Had my special night at the local Macy's last night with the new unveiling of the Martha line. I am still not sure how I got the invitation, since I do not have a Macy's card and honestly would not even go there if it wasn't for Martha, but now I am a loyal customer... I think they must know how much I love Martha
It stared with being greeted and offered a class of Red or White wine, both from local vineyards. (very nice touch) we sat down and then offered some delicious panini's. Looking at the crowd I noticed that I may be the youngest person that was there. Michael who is the VP of Merchandising for MSLO was there and began the presentation in the bedding area. There were 3 beds set up on risers beautifully made with three of the bedding collections, Trousseau, which is based on Martha's collection of Antique linens from her Skyland home in Main, Faux Bois which is one of Martha's very favorite thing and Coral Spray. These collections also carry on into the Bath and Bath accessories. The beds that were used is the same one below in the picture which was a beautiful dark wood bed which they will also soon be selling at Macy's.
The sheets are all high thread counts and the collections also mix together with the same solid colors in some of Martha's favorite colors. They will eventually have matching window treatments and more accessories as well.
The next stop was tabletop where Alana who also works for MSLO presented a portion of the tabletop line featuring the White ware, Wire ware and the Lorraine stencil wear which is based on a collection of Cafe Au Lait bowls that Martha has. I love the Wire Ware and it is like the vintage pieces that Martha had on her old show, with the curly edges. It is also coated so that it is food safe and won't rust. They didn't really focus on the rest of the collection like the glassware and some of the other dish collection which I wish they would have.
There will be table linens, with table clothes, runners and napkins in the future as well which I am looking forward to of course. I do love some table linens, maybe this year I won't have to make my own taffeta table cloth for Thanksgiving.
After table top we moved to the kitchen area and a local baker demonstrated the Martha Stewart cake decorating kit as well as how to decorate a cookie with royal icing. He also used her kit to decorate a cake and show what some of the tips did. There wasn't much talk about Martha at that point though. It would have been great if they had done a cooking demonstration or really demonstrated what a lot of the tools were and what they are used for. At that point we were given a small 30 page book that shows a ton of her product. And then I shopped....
When I was looking around and what was some pretty picked over stock, but still managed to spend $200 and that was after a gift card for $25 off I saw our two Martha guests standing and talking so I thought I should take the opportunity to go and talk to them. I asked Michael if there was any plan to make appliances much like the old Martha Green KitcheAid blender that she use to have in the catalog and in her online store. I still wish I got that back then...darn. I also without sounding like a real nut case talked to him about Martha and how I was there dream customer, because if Martha makes it, I want. He said it was really nice to travel the country doing these unveiling's and at each one they get to meet at least one fan of Martha like me. So in the end it was a very nice few hours, the best part was knowing the back story on a lot of the products that they made and involved Martha is on each one.
So now go to Macy's and pick some things up, I left a few things for you to purchase
