a couple of 1st's

A little layout love of my nephew Payton from his 1st Birthday party.This was a before shot of him before he was covered with cake and frosting with a little help of his big sister.

In other exciting news the Portland Trailblazers had the 1st round draft pick this year and selected Greg Oden from Ohio State. I use to be a huge Blazer fan and grandpa and I loved to watch the games together. But the the Trailblazers became the "Jailblazers" gone were the days of Clyde Drexler and Buck Williams. But now it looks like they have cleaned up their image and good days are ahead.  I even found this in my closet last weekend. John makes fun of it but back in the day when I first made this (1991 I think) I wore it to a game and I got 5 people that asked me to make them one and then I sold them for $80....hmmmm maybe I will need to do that again... and with inflation....

   

Random Good Things

a few things from me:

I can't watch the View anymore that Rosie is gone. Elisabeth is a moron and now the talk is all about underwear and skin cream. Come on!! Women are smarter than that!!

Lil'Bush on Comedy Central is hilarious and you should watch it, Lil' Cheney is more like the Penguin from Batman and he rips the heads off of chickens and sucks there blood....(It's a cartoon)

2 1/2 weeks until I see Kenny Chesney in Seattle, which means I have 2 1/2 weeks to come up with something to say to him that is not completely stupid when I meet him before the show at the meet and greet.

First day of summer and it's suppose to be in the high 70's, perfect! I really can do without the super hot days that will be coming soon.

I would rather be scrapbooking right now or doing something creative.

Grandma fell and broke her hip so she is getting a hip replacement. Just glad that didn't happen in Dallas last week. Now she will have even more metal in her

after being in Dallas and doing my Dealey plaza tour again, I am reading all of my JFK books and have more coming from Amazon.com. John already is pretty sure that we have every single picture ever taken of JFK in this house, won't be happy to see the 5 new books coming

Prince William  and Harry interview was on the other night and I had to watch it. Princess Diana is another one of my favorite, I still can't believe it has been almost 10 years this year that she died. Matt Lauer was a little dorky in the interview trying to be young and hip. At least it wasn't Oprah, I don't think I could have watched if it was her.

2 1/2 weeks to the start of the Tour de France, my favorite time of the year. I love my time with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherman and their wonderful accents. I just need to brace myself for Bob Roll and him saying Tour DAY France which drives me nuts! Although the Tour starts the same day that I go to Seattle to see Kenny. It may be a long day getting up at 4:30am to watch the Tour. Bring on July and my lack of sleep!!

Got the newest issue of Everyday Food so I will update all this weekend with the recipe hits of the issue!

  I think she got her love of sparkley and fluffy things from her Aunt.... It's a good thing she hasn't seen the Tiara collection I have.

12 of 12 June

For this months 12 of 12 I am in Dallas Texas visiting my sister and niece and nephew but we are heading home to Oregon this afternoon.

8:30am Central time    Goodmorning little man, this is my nephew Payton waiting for more cheerios

11:00am Central Time  And the little princess having her lunch. But she decides that mine or moms looks better. She had a little accident on the backyard jungle gym so it looks like she has road rash on her nose.   

11:15am Central time Play time for my sister and me with the kids toys. We still have our Fisher Price Little People, we wouldn't let our mom get rid of them. The Little People look a lot different now, but we set all the toys up and played with them. Later we even went on ebay and bid on a Vintage Little People Airport but we lost, we may need to complete our collection and then set them all up so we can play with them. Won't John be excited when boxes with toys start arriving at the house....

 

11:45am Central time Quick little trip around the block in the new wagon

1:00pm Central time, Getting gas for the rental car. Pumping my own gas freaks me out, we don't pump our own in Oregon so I get a little nervous that gas is going to come pouring out onto my foot and I will be engulfed in flames. I made it through with flying colors, no spilled gas and no flames

1:50pm Central time. Going through security at the airport is always fun with the Bionic Woman. Since Grandma has had both her knees replaced they think she is a high risk....So they like to frisk her. I couldn't get my camera out fast enough since I am on carry on duty and trying to get it all of the belt. So here is a pic from the way down to Dallas

2:00pm Central time Well look who I came across in the airport. My Anderson Cooper, he seems a lit flat in person, but still oh so cute....

4:00pm Central time, om the plane waiting. We are in seat d & e and the window seat is f...about to take off and the seat is still open....woo hooo we get to spread out and I get the window seat!

5:00pm Pacific time. yippee, not only are we in a airplane, but we are also traveling back in time. we are living out the same 2 hours on the flight home..... creepy. We flew over Utah and of course I seem to always be on the wrong side of the plane to see the really good stuff.... no Salt Lake just mountains with a little snow on them. I like how the little line of snow is on the very top

5:30pm Pacific time off of the wing of the plane. I always seem to sit over the wing too.... after this we flew pretty low over Mt Hood and it was a beautiful somewhat clear day....but you guessed it...I was on the opposite side of Mt Hood so I didn't get a picture

6:00pm Pacific time, almost home. Flying over the 205 bridge just about to land in Portland. Dallas is nice but the nice green trees and mountains of Oregon and the fact that it is not 98 degrees and muggy is a plus. Although I do miss my sister and the little ones

7:20pm Home and my John F Kennedy rose looks great!

Dallas day 4, Dealey Plaza

Made my trip down to Dealey Plaza this morning, got there nice and early but found out that the Museum and Gift Shop didn't open until Noon. Plenty of time to see the sights and then add the Oak Cliff Lee Harvey Oswald path to the trip

First stop

The boarding house which Lee Harvey Oswald rented prior to his "alleged" shooting.

The corner of Neeley and Beckley where Oswald got out of a cab after leaving Dealey Plaza

Tenth and Patton where Officer Tippet was shot "allegedly" by Lee Harvey Oswald

And the Texas Theater where Oswald was apprehended. It took me awhile to find it because the marquee sign is gone. I saw online just last year how they restored it. Oliver Stone restored the outside of it when he filmed the JFK movie. Now it is closed and is not in good shape. Too bad, since it is part of American History.

And then off to Dealey Plaza where I called John and had him log in back at home and look for me on the Dealey Plaza live cam. He found me by the reflecting pool and then I ran down to the grass across from the Grassy Knoll. Pretty funny, I know.

I am going back tomorrow to the gift shop, I spied a DVD through the window that I don't have. And I have lots more pictures for you. Oh and to add to the idea that I am crazy, 2 nice girls asked me a question near the Grassy Knoll and I told them some of the different views they needed to see into Dealey plaza, like the Triple Overpass where the three transients were that could have also been one of the shooters. Yes John thinks I am completely crazy. Maybe I should move down here and give "the real story" tour of Dealey Plaza....

Must get to sleep and read up on my "Killing of a President" book so I can find more places to visit. There is a manhole near the fence I need to find......hmmmmmm. I know you can't wait for more.....

Dallas day 3

got to check out 2 scrapbook stores today. Scrapbook Warehouse in Lewisville and Recollections in Dallas. Recollections is owned by Michaels and it has everything you would ever look for in scrapbooking. I picked up a bunch of Cinderella stuff to make a quick little book for Madeline, almost done and then I will have to take some pictures of it.

Tomorrow I am going to Dealey Plaza, it will be my third visit, but first with my new camera. It is a very emotional spot and makes me tear up a little everytime I visit. I did the 6th floor museum the first time, but since it is dedicated to Oswald being the lone gunman I have a few issues with it. So no need to see it again, but I will hit the gift shop and maybe I will find a new JFK book that I don't have, not likely but maybe there will be a great new find. After that I am going to drive the same route that Oswald took. Last year I went by his boarding house, tomorrow I am going by the Texas Theater and the corner where Officer Tippet was shot. I know I am a nerd.....

This is Grandma getting frisked at the airport security. She had her knees both replaced and the TSA must think she is smuggling something in there. Of course I had to whip out the camera to get a picture of her much to her dismay.......

I tried to stamp the flower with a gluepad and then put glitter on it. It doesn't really show up in the photo....I love the heart bookplates and I was able to part with a little of my French je t'aime ribbon
