I have in my hot little hands a special preview of the new Martha Stewart Cupcakes book. I am writing this and looking at it at the same time. I couldn't wait....
It is laid out just like the bestseller Martha Stewart Cookies book, great pictures for every recipe (I love that) and broken up into chapters of Swirl & Sprinkled, Dipped & Glazed, Simple & Sweet, Filled & Layered, Piped and Topped and Celebrations; including birthdays, holidays and celebrations.
Any Day, Cupcakes: Swirled and Sprinkled: My favorites are the Coconut Cupcakes, topped with beautiful flaked coconut, the Tiramisu cupcake, Blueberries and Cream Cupcakes and the Tres Leches Cupcakes.
Any Day, Dipped & Glazed: Triple Citrus Cupcakes ( I pucker just at the thought) Coconut-Pecan Cupcake with Chocolate Ganache and don't forget Big Martha's Spice Cupcakes
Any Day, Simple & Sweet: Marble cupcakes, Raspberry Marble Cheesecakes & Cookies and Cream Cheesecake
Any Day, Filled & Layered; You knew it was coming, The Boston Cream Pie Cupcake (these are fantastic) Peanut Butter filled Chocolate cupcakes, Martha's Meyer Lemon Cupcakes ( I would kill for Lemon Curd), Jumbo Cream filled Chocolate cupcakes (these look like the hostess variety but I am sure much better)
Any Day, Piped and Topped: Snickerdoodle Cupcakes (Snickerdoodle's was my first baking that I mastered as a little girl, so I must try these). Strawberry Cupcakes (just got strawberries at the farmers market) Chocolate Salted-Caramel Mini Cupcakes (this may be my favorite section)
Special Days: Birthdays, this is where the real fun and creativity comes in.... By the Sea cupcakes with Marzipan formed little whales and starfish, Ladybug Cupcakes that use one of my favorite decoration tips, the grass tip, Game Day Cupcakes using sprinkles and frosting to make cupcakes look like baseballs, basketballs and tennis balls. (perfect for Wimbledon Susan) & the cutest Coconut Chick Cupcakes.
Special Days: Holidays, Everything from Valentine cupcakes to piped wreath cupcakes
Special Days: Celebrations, One of the cutest cupcakes Martha has ever done is the Nesting Baby Bluebird cupcakes, Chrysanthemum Cupcakes, with the special leaf tip even the novice cake deco rater will look like a master with this one. Sunflower cupcakes (perfect for the Tour de France) & the amazing Spun Sugar Crowned Cupcake (this is a show stopper)
Also filled with great basic recipes for frosting and filling and all the tools you will need to make these little treats....
